What is the needed preparation to do the Upper Abdomen Ultrasound?

Our target is to limit the air and the content in the stomach and intestine.

The day before, the patient must avoid consuming foods that cause “bloating” such as legumes, greens, salads, fruits, dairy products and carbonated beverages. On the day of the examination, he must be fasting at least 8 hours and can only consume water or tea without milk.

The preparation is mandatory even if the gallbladder has been removed because the visibility of the stomach with contents makes it difficult to examine the upper abdomen organs in detail.
